No matter your gaming preference – be it quick social deception games, town building adventures or fast-paced battle royale games – mobile gaming offers something to meet it.
Monument Valley is one of those rare games that transcends gaming – it is referenced in TV shows and enjoyed by non-gamers due to its mind-boggling spatial puzzles inspired by Escher.
PUBG Mobile is a portable version of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds that brings all the same thrills, laughs, adventure, team play and fear from its PC counterpart directly into your hands.
PUBG Mobile features customizable controls that enable players to overcome the interface barrier between PC gaming and touchscreens. A virtual joystick on the left side of the screen controls movement while contextually appropriate swiping enables aiming. When combined with inventory management capabilities and wide variety of weapons available to use in-game, this game represents feature-complete gameplay not typically found in Google Play Store titles.
Only downside to this game is its gameplay can feel slow at times when playing in close quarters with 20 or 30 other players, but other than that it is an amazing mobile experience and is completely free.
League of Legends: Wild Rift
League of Legends: Wild Rift takes the essential elements of LoL and scales them back for mobile phones, tablets and consoles. While its gameplay may be reduced in terms of size, it still provides ample strategic and action! Like other MOBA titles, players select their champion and compete against teams of five players to take down an opponent’s Nexus; but unlike PC counterparts Wild Rift offers more accessible gameplay for newcomers than its PC equivalent.
Riot’s mobile spinoff features a cleaner map, more realistic fight animations and superior jungle monster animations than its competitors. Indeed, some former League of Legends players consider Wild Rift better than its PC-based ancestor! In fact, this simpler version seems to be drawing in newcomers that find LoL’s complexity too daunting; which could position Riot Mobile Rift to become an increasingly competitive mobile esports space contender.
Pokemon Go marks a new era in mobile gaming by connecting virtual experiences with real-world geography. Utilizing augmented reality technology, this app allows gamers to interact with Pokemon in a fantasy world rooted in their physical location. Thus fulfilling the promise of the Pokemon franchise by taking them on thrilling and more engaging adventures than traditional video games can.
It was an enormously successful app on the App Store before being eclipsed by Supercell’s Clash Royale. It inspired other games to incorporate geolocation and augmented reality features into their experiences – for instance Zombies, Run!, which involves players surviving a zombie apocalypse by running in real world streets while using geolocative features; other apps focused on similar experiences (Zombies Run!) incorporate geolocation capabilities as well – offering unique social experiences unlike any other mobile app available today.
Call of Duty: Mobile
Call of Duty is one of the world’s most beloved shooter franchises, and now available on mobile! Offering popular modes such as deathmatch and battle royale multiplayer gameplay as well as customizable controls, voice and text chat features and 3D sound, Call of Duty delivers unparalleled thrills and spills on mobile.
This game also boasts an array of iconic operators, weapons and outfits to unlock. Additionally, scorestreaks and powerful gear can be earned during in-game events as well as social play rewards and clan rewards – giving players plenty of variety!
But even with all its features, the game can still be difficult to control on a touch screen without Bluetooth controller support. The large number of icons can be daunting and may never feel quite console-like like its PC/console equivalents – despite which, it managed to dominate mobile gaming by garnering over 100 million downloads in its first week alone – an impressive achievement!
